LEVEL 1 CLASS: Basics of Movement Structure

The purpose of Level 1 is to introduce the beginning student to Movement Structure and the Basic Movement Vocabulary of Ultra Hip Revue's "Structured Improvisational Choreography" performance style. Students will develop the basic principles and skills needed for strong technique in tribal style bellydance. Along with learning basic movements, students also gain self awareness, balance, coordination, basic rhythm and muscular control. The class format introduces each movement in an Isolation Breakdown and finally a Coordination Exercise that pulls it all together. The Repetition Drills further enforce the new movement and also include a review of all movements learned to date in a Improvisational Routine led by the members of Ultra Hip Revue. The Cool Down at the end of class will include Stretch Fusion that will gently stretch and relax the muscles that will help to improve flexibility and range of motion.

And now for the first time ever, Student Evaluations will be offered at the end of the 8 week session! On the last day of class, students wishing to be evaluated will be given a sheet explaining the process of the evaluation, what to expect, and what areas will be evaluated. Students will have one week to prepare for the evaluation which will be given at the usual class time, day, and location. Evaluations are not mandatory but are encouraged to ascertain if the student is ready for a Level Increase and to determine the effectiveness of the teaching method. An Evaluation Summary will be given to the student which will include areas needing improvement and suggested exercises and drills to focus on.
